A gap that no one was solving

A gap that no one was solving

Most split-screen baby monitors can show video from multiple cameras at the same time.

That part has been standard for years. But audio doesn't work that way.

A conventional monitor cycles through the cameras:

A conventional monitor cycles through the cameras:

15 seconds from camera one, then 15 seconds from camera two, repeating in a loop. The parent doesn't choose which room to hear. The system chooses.

When the baby in room two cries during camera one's 15-second slot, the parent hears nothing. That gap between when a sound happens and when the parent hears it is not a software oversight. It's a hardware limitation. Most split-screen monitors select the audio signal from one camera unit at a time, cycling between cameras. No one had solved for continuous audio from both rooms at once. Infant Optics asked what it would take to remove that gap entirely.

HOW IT WORKS

HOW IT WORKS

Two cameras. One continuous signal. No gaps.

Two cameras. One continuous signal. No gaps.

Each camera in the DXR-8 PRO SS captures audio independently. Its own microphone, its own signal. The camera processor encodes the sound data and packages it with the video stream and a pairing ID that identifies which room it came from. That data packet is sent point-to-point over a dedicated private radio frequency. Not through the internet, not through a router, not to a server. Directly from the camera to the monitor station.

The monitor station processor receives both streams. It combines the audio from camera one and camera two into a single continuous signal (added together, not alternated) and sends that combined signal to one amplifier and one speaker. The parent hears both rooms, simultaneously, on one monitor. The pairing ID tells the display which room has activity, lighting up the audio source indicator before the parent has to look.

No software toggle. No channel switching. Audio from both cameras is transmitted, combined, and output as one continuous signal every frame.

ENGINEERING DECISIONS

ENGINEERING DECISIONS

Built to hold the line as the system grows

Every camera on this system shares one fixed radio channel, whether it's one camera or four. Video and audio move together in each packet, and that channel doesn't get bigger as more rooms join it. The processor's only job is to fit inside that ceiling no matter how many cameras are asking for space on it.

Scaling the video down before transmission is what buys that room.

"The camera processor is further configured to scale down the video data before generating the data packet for reducing a transmission time of the data packet from the individual camera device to the base station."

— U.S. Patent No. 11,804,120

At full 1080p, two cameras alone would already be pushing the channel toward its limit. Infant Optics systems are built to run up to four cameras.

Holding resolution at 720p keeps margin in reserve, whether a family is watching one nursery this month or has added three more cameras by the time a sibling moves into their own room. The spec sheet number doesn't move. What changes is how much slack the system is carrying before anything has to give.

Technology that brings real peace of mind.

Simultaneous live audio — no switching

Both rooms play at the same time. Audio from two cameras combined at the base station into one continuous signal.

Point-to-point radio frequency

Data travels directly from camera to base station. Does not go through the internet. No server. No cloud.

Audio source indicator

Each camera's data packet carries a pairing ID. The monitor lights up the audio source indicator to show which room has activity before you look.

Split screen display

Both camera feeds visible on one screen. Each feed displays in its own region, independently.

How the architecture works, and what that means for you

How the architecture works, and what that means for you

The same architecture that makes simultaneous dual audio possible means the signal travels point-to-point from the camera to the base station. It does not pass through the internet, a router, or a server. This is how the technology works. It is also why there is no remote access, no app, and no cloud layer.

Can I check the feed from my phone?

The feed stays in your home. The signal travels directly from the camera to the base station on a private radio frequency. It never touches the internet. There is no remote access because there is no external access path. That is the architecture.

Is there an app?

The monitor has its own dedicated display and its own signal path. The data goes directly from camera to monitor. No phone required. No app to install or update.
